🎉 Congratulations to the winners of our student 3D Concrete Printing Design Competition — you truly earned it!
After several months of design work, expert consultations, and intense competition, we are proud to announce the top entries that will shape the next large-scale 3D printed sculpture at Riga Technical University. The winning team — RTU students Pēteris Šlosbergs and Ralfs Vēveris — impressed the jury with a technically challenging seated astronaut sculpture, earning them 1500 EUR in prize money. Special category awards were also presented to Toms Tešs and Linards Edgars Skujiņš for their design and engineering solutions.
This international competition brought together young engineers, designers, and creatives to explore the potential of digital fabrication and sustainable building materials. With expert guidance, participants learned to optimize geometry, evaluate material behavior, and develop complete print-ready concepts.
A big thank you to our expert jury and mentors for their valuable input and presentations: Roberto Naboni, Dr. Slava Markin, Arturs Veiss, and to all co-organizers and supporters: Morberga Studija, Creative Tuesdays, SAKRET Baltic, RTU Science and Innovation Centre, Printstone Innovations SIA DigiSplit LTD, and the RTU 3D Concrete Printing Laboratory.
This summer, we will 3D print the winning sculpture using materials developed within the project cementitious composites made from industrial waste, with significantly lower COâ‚‚ emissions and improved durability in harsh Latvian winters. Stay tuned for updates!
